Ant



This ant rendering, done in 2018, is a ground up overhaul of a much older project. This project was an exercise in complex Arnold shading such as transmission and sub surface scattering. The hair on the ant utilized Maya nHair. All modeling was done in Maya and texturing in Photoshop. Rendered in Arnold with compositing in Nuke.

Work In Progress
Above is a work in progress version depicting the ant totally enclosed in sap. This scene version ended up being far too render time expensive to finish with its budget.
Layer Pass Breakdown
I rendered this project in several different render passes. This is in order to save render time, allow for pass specific de-noising, and achieve greater control over the final look.
